Buyer's checklist
Before you buy, check out the following:
1. Look at a number of different systems within your price range and compare their features, ease of use and maintenance requirements.
2. Are the jets adjustable so that you can arrange them to suit yourself?
3. How loud are the jets and pump when operating?
4. Is it easy to access the filters for cleaning and maintenance?
5. The components should be fully tested and backed by the manufacturer's guarantee, which you should read thoroughly. Be aware that the heater is normally the most vulnerable component.
6. Will you find the controls user-friendly?
7. Imagine yourself in the tub or jacuzzi. Will you be comfortable and can you move around easily?
8. How energy efficient is the system?
9. Get information on how to calculate the operating costs of your tub or jacuzzi, and make comparisons. The better the insulation, the lower the running costs.
10. Find out how long the manufacturer and dealer have been in business, and check credentials (such as trade affiliations and awards) and their service policy. If available, ask for customer references.
Remember that you tend to get what you pay for.
